Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply for a Course?
Apply online www.fetchcourses.ie. If you are registered and/or in receipt of a payment from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP), contact your local DEASP/Intreo office to register for the course.
What is the cost for a course?
Fulltime day courses are free of charge. There may be a charge for Evening courses depending on eligibility.
What are the entry requirements for a course?
Course entry requirements vary from course to course depending on the type of course and level of certification. The course profiles list the entry requirements for each course. When you apply for a course, you will be called for an Information Session where you can get full details about the course.
How will I know if I have got a place on the course?
The Course Recruitment office will contact you a few weeks before the start date and you will be invited for an Information Session and where applicable testing and interview.
Will I get an allowance while I am on the course?
While you are attending a fulltime day course, a training allowance will be paid in accordance with whichever DEASP entitlement you receive. Payment is based on attendance at the course. For fulltime day courses, you will receive a contribution towards travel costs if you live 5kms or more from the training location.
What are the hours of a full-time course?
GRETB Training Centre based course hours are: 8.30 am to 3.45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am to 12:45pm on Friday.
Do I get holidays?
While in training, learners are not entitled to holidays, however, if the course is 30 weeks or more duration, there is an Annual Leave entitlement of 2 weeks. You will be entitled to public holidays.
