Local Training Initiatives

Galway and Roscommon ETB supports community-based groups to undertake Local Training Initiatives (LTIs) to provide a range of learner-centred training and related services to assist individuals to enter or re-enter the labour market. Local Training Initiatives address the identified training needs of groups and individuals experiencing exclusion and labour market disadvantage and are full time programmes.

Our current Local Training Initiatives Providers are:

Roscommon Leader Partnership in Ballaghaderreen and Boyle
Roscommon Women’s Network in Castlerea
An Chistin in Castlerea
Portumna Integrated Development in Portunma
Strokestown Genealogy in Strokestown

Specialist Training Providers

We also support Specialist Training Providers (STPs) in the provision of learner-focused training and related services to assist individuals to enter or re-enter the labour market. Specialist Training Providers address the identified training needs of people with disabilities who are experiencing exclusion and labour market disadvantage.

Our current Local Training Initiatives Providers are National Learning Network – Galway and National Learning Network – Castlerea.

Community Training Centres

Community Training Centres provide a two year training course for early school leavers and lone or independent parents at Level 3 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). Our programmes include a literacy intervention and several support measures.

We support the Galway City Community Training Centre in Liosbaun Industrial Estate, Galway.

Please see www.fetchcourses.ie for course details.

Department of Justice Training Centres

We support the Department of Justice Training Centres through the provision of tutors and the payment of allowances to eligible learners. These centres provide full and part-time learning opportunities to people who have been referred by the Probation Service or at risk of offending or reoffending.

We support Dóchas don Óige in Galway as well as Tuam Community Training Centre and Canal House in Ballinasloe.
